The freezing point reduction measuring instrument is used in clinical tests on a specimen liquid. The liq. is under cooled so as to measure the osmotic pressure of the fluid which can be a plasma, tears or dialised liquids such as urine. The instrument consists of a cell(1) in a glass tube which is reduced to the under cooling temp by the insertion of a metallic block(4) in cascaded thermal modules(2,3). For the production of cryohydrate cores in a section of the liq. the temp. is reduced even further. The temp is measured in the condition of coexistence between solid and liq. phases. |
