For an auxiliary switch (which can be attached to a side wall (28) of a switching apparatus and whose switching position can be influenced by said switching apparatus) it is proposed to provide the housing (10) of said auxiliary switch on its edge region with at least one hook-like depression (17) which (in the position when it is mounted on the switching apparatus) is suspended in an opening or on a bracket of a side wall (28) of the switching apparatus, to arrange at least one recess (12) on the opposite edge region (20), and to produce an attachment connection (without any play) of the auxiliary switch to the switching apparatus by means of a wedge-shaped attachment element (16) which can be pushed or knocked into the recess and which is supported on its one wedge edge (24) on a housing wall or at least one transverse rib (13, 14) of the auxiliary switch housing and, in contrast, is supported on its opposite wedge edge (21) on an opening edge (31) or a formed attachment on the switching apparatus. <IMAGE>
