The invention relates to a construction for a metal roof, preferably for a steep roof, which is mounted on a conventional roof truss optionally provided with boarding. According to the invention, it consists of a plurality of horizontally extending rows of profiled plates which are fixed to the roof boards and have vertically projecting ribs extending in the direction of the roof ridge, of a plurality of rows of metal roof plates which are provided with a resilient bent portion on one side and engage in anchoring slots of these ribs, and of head pins which snap into the resilient bent portion of the previously laid row of roof plates, gripping a lateral edge of each roof plate laid. <IMAGE>
