An electrical capacitor, which consists of a number of dielectric films (1) which are arranged one on top of the other, are self-supporting and are covered with metal layers (11) on both their main surfaces. Metal foils (2) are located between the dielectric films (1) consisting of densely sintered ceramic material. These metal foils (2) are constructed with projections (22) which can be compressed and are in the form of knobs, waves, grooves or the like and which, after the stack has been compressed to a defined extent, are connected to one another by means of a solder paste. The connecting tabs (21) of the metal foils (2) are connected together in pairs and project out of a parallelepiped pressed sheathing (3) which protects the capacitor against external influences. <IMAGE>
