A sound-illustrated bound book (1) has sound-recording areas assigned to individual pages, in the form of a spiral-shaped sound groove (7) in each case. Each sound groove (7) is assigned adjusting clearances (8) or impressions and switch-on fuse elements (9, 10) for a sound reproducing device which can be placed on in the correct position. To permit less expensive production of the individual book pages (2) and of the sound groove carriers and to avoid any impairment of the reading of the book when the sound reproducing device is placed on the sound groove with the sound scanner rotating, and to prevent excessive, in particular one-sided bulging of the book, it is proposed to provide the sound grooves with the adjusting clearances (8) and the switch-on fuse elements (9, 10) on bound-in separate, at most semi-rigid double pages of plastic material inserted into the binding of the book. The sound grooves may be arranged on the front side and the rear side of the sound carrier pages, respectively lying exactly opposite one another. The adjusting clearances or impressions and protrusions and also the switch-on fuse elements may be provided symmetrically with respect to two orthogonal centre axes (11, 11') of the sound grooves (7) in such a way that they are shared by the sound grooves arranged opposite one another. The switch-on fuse elements have the form of an upwardly projecting protrusion (9) and a downwardly projecting impression (10), arranged closely alongside the latter. <IMAGE>
