A toilet paper holder consists of a stand (10) which is displaceable and can be positioned as desired with a foot (12) and a holding bar (14) which has a handle (16). On the handle (16) there are two hooks (18, 20) in which a cord (26) is hung, which cord is guided through the winding tube of a roll of toilet paper. The hooks (18, 20) have a slightly smaller spacing than the width of the paper roll (22) so that the cord (26) rests against the two end faces of the roll and provides a sufficient braking effect when a paper web is pulled. The stand (10) is height-adjustable. The toilet paper holder is particularly suitable for the disabled and allows one-handed operation when pulling and tearing off the paper web. The handle allows the patient to support himself so that he can stand up without crutches. <IMAGE>
