PURPOSE:To reduce skid marks easily and inexpensively by disposing a reducing device for skid marks consisting of paired lifting mechanisms for steel ingots and a position detecting and controlling mechanism on the discharge side of a heating furnace. CONSTITUTION:When steel ingots 12 advancing in a heating furnace 2 toward a discharging part from a charging port arrive at a prescribed position, a suitable detector (not shown) using gamma rays, etc. detects the arrival. In accordance with the signal thereof, fluid is introduced into a cylinder 7 which extends a piston rod 6 to lift the ingots 12 by means of the arms 9 of the rods 6 and to detach skid mark parts 14 from skids 13. Therefore the parts 14 are exposed to the high temp. atmosphere in the furnace and are heated, by which skid marks are reduced. It is a good particle to heat the parts 14 with heating burners that heat the parts 14 directly after lifting the ingots in order to improve efficientcy. |
