[Also in Division C3] A composition comprising a polymer of acrylonitrile containing basic-dye-reactive sites and a copolymer of acrylonitrile and a salt of formula: wherein R 1 is H or methyl, R 2 is a C 2-4 alkylene or hydroxyalkylene group of -CH 2 CH 2 OCH 2 CH 2 -, and R 3 , R 4 and R 5 are each C 1-3 alkyl groups can be made into fibres or fabrics which can be dyed in dyebaths containing a mixture of acid and basic dyes. By varying the relative proportions of the two polymers the receptiveness of the blend to a particular dye can be modified.</p> |
