<p>The arrangement is intended for welding fasteners such as pins or bolts on to a workpiece by striking an arc between the (pointed) pin or bolt end and the work, followed by depressing the pin, or first raising then depressing the bolt. An electrical energy source is connected to a welding head provided with fastener positioning, (raising), and depressing means and with an energising switch. A control unit determines the energy to be supplied by the source. A memory (e.g. ROM) stores details of the energy required for different weld surface areas and/or fastener and/or work materials and/or other parameters, and a measuring uni produces signals representing these actual detais to activate a memory search unit which signals a selector via the unit such that, on operating the switch, the source supplies the correct energy required.</p> |
