PURPOSE:To improve flatness of discharge voltage and increase capacity density of an organic solvent battery by using iron disulfide converted at least part of its surface to iron sulfide as a positive active mass. CONSTITUTION:Iron disulfide powder is heat-treated in an inert gas atmosphere to decompose at least part of its surface to iron sulfide. This powder is mixed with a conductive mass and a binder, as an active mass, and this mixture is molded as a positive electrode of an organic solvent battery. When this positive electrode is used, the discharged voltage is high, and the capacity is increased, and flatness of the discharge voltage is improved. When this positive electrode is used, an organic solvent battery of 1.5V family having excellent discharge performance can be manufactured. |
