<p>Fume cupboard comprises a rear wall, an upper wall and side walls which, together with a vertically slotted upper front wall portion and a raisable (two-part) front window, enclose a working space above a work top. The upper wall is provided with a connector spigot for an extract duct above a plenum chamber formed by a forwardly inclined upward baffle which extends to near the wall from a level just above the upper end of a vertical air guide baffle in front of the wall. A vertical baffle behind the inlets for sec. air extends downwards from near the wall, the gap being narrower than the baffle spacing behind the window. This window progressively closes the inlet slots as it is raised. The relative arrangement of baffles ensures that no region of stagnant air is created behind the window irrespective of the level to which this is raised.</p> |
