PURPOSE:To obtain an alkalin battery having increased discharge performance and a storage life by filling a gelled zinc anode mass in an atmosphere where effect of carbon dioxide gas or water in the air is prevented. CONSTITUTION:A gelled zinc anode mass 6 is contained in a gell reservoir 11, and a supply cylinder 14 and a piston rod 15 are lowered to concentrate around a feeding hole 12 the anode mass 6, then the anode mass 6 is pushed out. The anode mass 6 is filled into a supply hole 19 in a rotating disc 18, and then filled into a metal sealing plate 5 transfered under the supply hole 19, with a piston 21. By this procedure, the gelled zinc anode mass 6 is filled into each of a large nuber of metal sealing plates 5. The anode mass 6 is supplied in an atmosphere filled with an inert gas or a nitrogen gas to prevent mixing of carbon dioxide gas or moisture into the zinc anode mass 6. |
