PURPOSE:To obtain a continuous thin film of ferromagnetic iron oxide which excels in durability and is suited for a flexible magnetic disk, by forming a nonmagnetic rigid film on a flexible substrate. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic rigid film 2 of SiO2, Al2O3, Si3N4, etc. is formed on a flexible substrate 1 such as polyimide, polyamide, polyester, etc. Then a continuous thin film of ferromagnetic iron oxide is formed on the film 2 with gamma-Fe2O3, the gamma-Fe2O3 added with an additive or an intermediate composition of gamma-Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 by a sputtering process, etc. |
