PURPOSE:To simplify the configuration and mechanism by providing cylinder guides in both arms striding over the disc, and inserting hydraulic type pad pressing cylinders into said guides, in an opposed type disc brake using both arms of a caliper as operating arms. CONSTITUTION:The fluid pressure is transmitted to a hydraulic chamber through a hose 23 and fluid passages 20 and 12, and further to a hydraulic chamber 33b through a fluid passage 27, a bridge pipe 26, and fluid passages 27b, 25 and 12. By this arrangement, pad pressing cylinder bodies 28a and 28b move forward, and a pad pressing part 29 presses pads 38 and 39 against both sides of the disc 3 through back plates 40 and 41. By this operation, the disc 3 is clamped and slide-contacted from its both sides by means of pads 38 and 39, and braked. By the release of the fluid pressure, pad pressing cylinder bodies 28a and 28b are restored to their original positions by means of a corner seal 32, and the brake is released. By the construction as described above, the configuration, mechanism, and structure of the caliper body can be simplified. |
