Lysine pantothenate (I) prepn. comprises (a) transforming calcium pantothenate to pantothenic acid soln. with dilute H2SO4; (b) transforming lysine chlorohydrate with basic AgNO3 to lysine; (c) reacting equimolar quantities of lysine and pantothenic acid to obtain (I). (I) has mol.wt. 364.49 and formula: C6H14O2N2-C9H16O5N. Pantothenic acid is important in formation of tissue and lysine for the formation of antibodies of red blood cells.
