PURPOSE:To promote safety and attain convenience in getting in and out of an automobile, by providing a knee protector in a door so that the protector can be moved in and out of the interior of the automobile and by protruding protector into the interior at the closure of the door and placing the protector in the door at the opening thereof. CONSTITUTION:When a door 4 is entirely closed as shown by full lines in the drawing, the bent-back rear end 12c of a door checker 12 is located behind a stopper 26a and X-shaped links 22 are protruded from the door and a knee protector 17 is protruded into the interior 18 of an automobile. When the door 4 is opened as shown by one-dot chain lines, a pinion 23 is rotated in a direction B and shafts 22a are moved in directions H, I and the X-shaped links 22 are folded and the knee protector 17 is made flush with a trim surface 14. When the door 4 is further opened as shown by two-dot chain lines, a rack 26 is not moved an the knee protector 17 is kept in the door. |
