PURPOSE:To decrease the number of parts in a detecting means and to simplify fabrication, in the apparatus wherein one printing head performs printing on a plurality of printing media, by providing a shielding plate which is rotated in synchronization with carrier movement and a sernsor which detects said shielding plate. CONSTITUTION:When a driving gear 5 is rotated by the driving of a motor, a timing belt 4 is moved, and a carrier 1 is guided by a guide shaft 3 and moved back and forth in the directions of an arrow a1. In this case, the shielding plate 9 is fixed to an idler gear 6 and the sensor S is fixed to the main body of the apparatus. At the moment when the shielding plate 9 is first detected by the sensor S, a printing head 2 is located at a print starting reference point P1 of a receipt (a). At the moment when the shielding plate 9 is detected second and third times after the idler gear 6 has been further rotated, the printing head 2 is located at the print starting reference points P2 and P3 for a journal (b) and a slip (c). |
