PURPOSE:To improve an anti-thermal shock, anti-corrosion, durability and forming characteristic by a method wherein a heater material of glow plug is formed by a composite member having non-metallic powder dispersed in the metallic substrate. CONSTITUTION:Glow plug is of a tube having its one end closed and is provided with a heater material 10 having a central electrode 12 welded and the heater material 10 is installed at one end of the plug housing 14 having an insulator 22 filled therein. In this case, said heater material 10 is of a composite one in which metal is a substrate and powder of non-metallic material is dispersed. The metal used as said substrate is preferably a heat-resistant one with a high melting point, and for example alloy of Ni, Ni- Cr etc. is applied. As powder of non- metallic material, various types of oxide, nitride, carbide, silicide and boride etc. are applied. |
