PURPOSE:To reduce carrier traps due to CH3 bonds, and to enhance carrier transfer efficiency by incorporating, as the main component of a carrier transfer layer, amorphous carbon having the absorption coefficient of CH3 bond lower than that of CH2 bond. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body 1 is composed of a substrate 2, a carrier transfer layer 3, and a photoconductive layer 4, and the layer 3 is composed essentially of amorphous carbon containing at least H, and having the absorption coefficient at the absorption peak of 2,962+ or -3cm<-1> wave number (anti-symmetric stretching vibration of CH3) smaller than that at 2,926+ or -3cm<-1> (anti-symmetric stretching vibration of CH2), and that at 1,375+ or -3cm<-1> (symmetric deformation vibration of CH3) smaller than that at 1,465+ or -3cm<-1> (symmetric deformation vibration of CH2). The layer 4 is made of an inorganic compound composed essentially of at least one of Si and Ge and containing H or halogen, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive body to be small in corona current at the time of charging, and high in sensitivity and to form an image free from white spots. |
