A textile fabric or paper shrinking machine in which an endless elastically-extensible belt 15 travels over front and back idling rollers 1, 13 and is driven by a third roller 6 which applies pressure to the belt, the textile fabric or paper being shrunk by the contraction of the belt after passing through the nip between rollers 1, 6, characterised in that the roller 1, Fig. 1, or the roller 6, (Fig. 3), is mounted in a block moveable in a horizontal direction to vary the arc of contact of the belt 15 with the driven roller 6, the driven roller 6 being mounted on a vertical slide 8 with adjustment to vary the nip between the driven roller 6 and the roller 1, the rollers 1, 13, 6 being mounted in an open sided frame to facilitate the changing of the belt 15.

|
