PURPOSE:To perform the control of speeds for the seeking operation and the control of position on a track with different servo signals, by recording previously the servo signal for speed control of an R/W head at a deep layer part of a data area. CONSTITUTION:Data areas 221-228 and servo areas 211-218 are provided on a disk surface. The servo signal for speed control is written previously to the deep layer part of the data area; while the servo signal for position control is written previously to the servo area. The servo signal written to the deep layer of the data area is used for a high-speed seeking operation of a magnetic disk. While the servo signal embedded in the servo area is used for the control of position after the on-track. Therefore the servo signal embedded in the servo area is used in case a magnetic head shifts by 1 track while the disk passes through the areas 211-218 at a high speed. In such way, a perfect speed control signal is obtained. |
