PURPOSE:To obtain a high speed scanner for an X-axis direction which is reduced of size and weight by supporting a focusing ultrasonic wave transmitting and receiving element from above, and constituting the scanner in such a way as to oscillate said element in the X direction. CONSTITUTION:A holder 24 for holding a focusing ultrasonic wave transmitting and receiving element 23 is interposed between the magnetic poles 30 and 30' of an electromagnetic iron core 29 which is excited by the high speed scanning signal supplied to a coil 28. Magnets 31, 31' are stuck to both side surfaces in the oscillatable direction of the holder 24 in such a way that the same poles face the magnetic poles 30, 30' of the electromagnetic iron core. Thus the 1st driving means for driving the holder 24 directly electromagnetically as a movable part is constituted, and the element 23 held by the holder 24 is moved back and forth at a high speed in the scanning periods in the X scanning direction by the attractive and repulsive forces of the magnets 31, 31' and the magnetic poles 30, 30' of the polarities changing with the high speed scanning current flowing in the coil 28. |
