The chair is built on a frame which comprises two parallelogram mechanisms. One part of the mechanism allows the height of the back and the inclination of the seat to be adjusted, while the other allows the back to be reclined whilst the footrest is pushed forward to support a person's legs. Both the adjustments to position may be carried out by the action of two electrically co-trolled jacks beneath the seat of the chair. A switch mechanism allows the occupant to control the operation of the jacks to lower him into the seat, raise or allow the user to recline. The chair may be converted into a large wheeled chair for use by a handicapped person.
