PURPOSE:To stably obtain a cladding bead of a regular shape, by blowing gas to a molten slag, and executing welding, in case of horizontal electroslag cladding welding which uses a band-like electrode. CONSTITUTION:A band-like electrode 1 having broad width is fed into a molten slag 3, a high current supplied from the electrode 1 is made to flow through the slag 3, and the slag 3 is heated by Joule heat. By its heat, the tip of the electrode 1, and a flux 13 scattered in advance in the forwarding direction of the electrode are melted. The flux 13 is melted, becomes a molten slag 3, is cooled, becomes a solidified slag 4, and is consumed. In this case, to a high temperature part of the unbalanced slag 3, cooling gas 16 is blown through a gas hose 15 from a gas nozzle 14, and it is cooled. As a result, a temperature of the slag 3 is balanced satisfactorily, current density in the slag 3 is equalized, and a satisfactory cladding bead can be obtained. |
