Process for the preparation of hydrocarbons from a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen with the use of a catalyst combination containing one or more metal component(s) having catalytic activity for conversion of an H2/CO mixture into acyclic hydrocarbons, for example ruthenium, cobalt and iron, and ferrierite as support. The catalyst is preferably prepared by ion exchange, followed by washing, drying and calcining. The reaction product substantially comprises hydrocarbons having 5 to 12 C atoms.
