<p>Aqueous gel or paste contains about 10-25% by weight of a solution containing 10 - 60% of a strongly oxidizing salt, a thickening agent comprising 0.01 - 5% of an organic colloid, and traces up to 1% of cross-linking "oxydo-reducing" agents for this thickening agent. This gel or paste form is principally used for explosives, which may contain altogether a total of 40-89.9% by weight of at least one strongly oxidizing salt such as ammonium nitrate, sodium nitrate, or chlorate or perchlorate of an alkaline metal or of ammonium. Mixes stable for 24 hours or longer may be obtained by using suitable proportions of suitable components without the inconvenience of pH control.</p> |
