The system controls a number of eddy current drives via a pair of power supply lines (12) and a single pilot line (20). A main contactor (3) is held closed by contacts (14) of a pilot relay (11) which is energised only if relay contacts (13) in individual control units for each drive remain closed. Contacts (13) open if certain operating conditions are not met.
