A device for punching out blanks which are parallelogram-shaped, have rounded edges and are made of cardboard, paperboard or the like, especially beer mats made of felt-paperboard, using a punching tool in the form of a flat or cylindrical supporting plate into which there are inserted steel band sections which are arranged perpendicularly to the plate surface, project from the latter by a distance at least equal to the cutting depth, are provided with a cutting edge and follow the outline of the blanks. Only one straight steel band section is provided in each case for adjacent straight sides of the blanks. A corner star is provided for each of the four adjacent rounded corners and encloses arched cutting edge sections which merge into a common cutting edge which is adjoined by the cutting edge of the appropriate straight steel band section. <IMAGE>
