The invention relates to fluidised-bed reactions for carrying out gas/solids reactions, in which constituents of the solids and gases react with one another as reactants in the fluidised bed and thus give solid and gaseous reaction products. This equipment is intended to achieve high conversions of solid reactant constituents at higher space-time yields, lower reaction temperatures and a minimum pressure drop. The essence of the invention is a fluidised-bed reactor consisting of a plurality of stages or individual fluidised beds connected by vertical pipes and arranged one above the other, the connecting piping being arranged and provided with accessories in such a way that uniform solids loading of the individual stages one after the other is achieved with high fluidised-bed density and minimised solids back-transport to preceding stages. The invention is used especially in the regeneration of spent carbon-containing catalysts and oxidation catalysts of chemical syntheses, in which solids reactions with gases in the fluidised bed are necessary for building up the catalytic activity.
