In a process for drying and milling mineral raw material, the raw material is first dried in a dryer (4) by means of a hot gas stream and then milled in a mill (8) before the milled raw material is extracted with a stream of fresh air sucked through the mill (8) and is separated from the sucked-in air stream. To reduce the cost of dust removal and to use the sensible waste heat of the air stream from the mill, the air stream after separation of the milled raw material is conducted to the hot gas stream for the dryer (4) as combustion air or as secondary air. <IMAGE>
