Auxiliary pump for manual filling of the fuel system of an injection combustion engine

In the case of an auxiliary pump, lying in the bypass of a fuel line, for the manual filling of the fuel system of an injection combustion engine, manual pumping is performed by way of a diaphragm (8) articulated in the housing (1) of the auxiliary pump. Switching over from engine operation to manual auxiliary pump operation is done by operating a valve tappet (4). The valve tappet (4) is provided with non-return valves (16 and 17). These are controlled in such a manner that, when the auxiliary pump is switched on, they mutually block one another's fuel flow so that auxiliary pump operation is possible. The same operating cap (7), by means of which the pumping movements of the diaphragm (8) are triggered, also serves for switching of the valve tappet (4). When the auxiliary pump is not switched on no pump movements can be produced by way of the operating cap (7). <IMAGE>
