The process serves for the shrinkage of foils which serve for the packaging of products arranged on pallets, at least one burner being used. This process provides for moving the pallets essentially continuously past the burner, and for moving the burner obliquely relative to the direction of transport of the pallets. The shrinkage apparatus preferably intended for carrying out the abovementioned process has two groups of burners which are respectively arranged one above the other and which form a respective burner strip (6, 7). Furthermore, this apparatus has a transport device (5), by means of which the pallets (8) can be moved essentially continuously through the shrinkage apparatus. Provided for the two burner strips (6, 7) is a guide and a drive, by means of which they can be moved transversely relative to the direction of transport (a) of the transport device (5). <IMAGE>
