A description is given of an apparatus (11) for preparing subsequent laying of cables (13) in a protective pipe (14) which is already fitted with an electric cable (16). With the aid of said apparatus (11), it is to be achieved that a second cable (13) can be drawn without difficulty into an existing laid protective pipe (14) without the ground having to be re-excavated and a new protective pipe laid and without the existing cable being damaged. This is achieved in that there is provided an intermediate floor (12) which can be introduced into the protective pipe (14) and is provided in the region of its front end, on both sides, with a level guide (33) which is supported on the interior wall (26) of the pipe and, on the front side, with a cable guide (22). <IMAGE>
