The expansion joint (3) for a piping system is movable in the axial direction, and has two components (4,5) with devices (6,7) for fixing them to sections of pipe movable in relation to each other. An annular sliding seal (8) between the components is clamped (13,14) to one of the components (4). A strip-type sliding seal (9) is secured to the other component (5), so that the seals follow the radial movement of one component and the axial movement of the other. The clamping devices exert a direct radial pressure on the second seal (9), pressing it against the other component. |
