The invention relates to an apparatus for the repair, and for the endless joining of conveyor belts of rubber or plastic. The invention has press plates, which have heating channels and cooling channels. Electric heating devices are arranged in the heating channels. A cooling medium is introduced into the cooling channels. The cooling is performed, however, by evaporative cooling. For this purpose, the cooling channels are open at least on one side. They are consequently channels of an evaporative cooling means. A feedline for evaporation water is inserted into the cooling channels.
