The invention relates to a method and a circuit arrangement for defining the transmission times for transmitting information signals via a clock-controlled highway system which is operated in a directionally dependent manner. Information signals are transmitted in this highway system using the time-division-multiplex principle. According to this principle, each line connecting device which is connected to the highway system has available to it in each case one time cell in a time-division multiplex frame containing a plurality of time cells, and time slots within this time cell, or in each case one specific time slot within all the time cells, for receiving information signals. In order to define a transmission time which is allocated chronologically, the invention provides that the transmission time to the receiving line connecting device is determined in a transmitting line connecting device on the basis of an address information item associated with this device and on the basis of an address information item which determines a receiving line connecting device, that a transmission time variable which specifies this transmission time is subtracted from the duration of a first time-division-multiplex frame, and that the available transmission time within the respective first time-division-multiplex frame (related to the start of its frame) is defined by the difference thus determined. <IMAGE>
