1,165,441. Willison coupler lock-set device. MIDLAND-ROSS CORP. 15 Feb., 1967 [30 March, 1966], No. 7292/67. Heading B7T. A Willison coupler is provided with a lock-setting mechanism which can be operated by moving the coupler operating rod, which action is different from the Willison couplers of prior art where the lock set piece 9 is itself provided with a handle so that it may be lifted manually to a lockrelease position. The lock set piece 9 has a recess 25 similar to the recess 26, Fig. 8, of the prior art, but in this ease the recess is formed by a leaf spring such as 30 or a sprung pivoted leg or thrower cam follower (54), Fig. 3 (not shown). In Fig. 6 the lockthrowing cam 7 is shown engaging the lock 6 and supporting the lock against gravity return to the protracted or uncoupled position of Fig. 2 (not shown) and the cam 7 is in turn supported against the spring 30. In the Fig. 6 position the anticreep element 8 has been carried to an ineffective rearmost position and an indicator 10 is visible, and it is clear that by turning the shaft 11 on which the cam 7 is mounted the spring may be deflected to allow 36 to pass and the lock 9 to drop forwards to the coupled position. |
