PURPOSE:To improve fuel comsumption and exhaust gas characteristic of an engine, by providing a sub-intake valve device, driving this device with a cam, jetting or stopping intake air, scavenging residual gas and circulatively flowing the intake air while promoting pulverization of fuel. CONSTITUTION:A sub-intake valve device 19 is provided and driven by a cam 16 to open a valve head part 24 in the vicinity of a conversion point transferred from exhaust to intake, and intake air, forcibly fed from a pump 12, is jetted into a working chamber 8 for a certain period, and then stopped, thus residual gas is scavenged. Further said device is constituted in such a manner that in the vicinity of a point of time at a crank angle of rotation 90 deg. from the conversion point, intake air again jetted, and then the valve head part 24 is closely attached to a valve seat 25 to from circulation of the intake air, further a high speed stream of the intake air is caused to collide with fed fuel, and the fuel is pulverized. In this way, scavenge of the working chamber 8 and pulverization of the fed fuel are promoted, and fuel consumption and exhaust gas characteristic of the engine can be improved. |
