PURPOSE:To facilitate maintenance, by a method wherein a visible image is produced on a card having a printing layer on the face side and a magnetic recording layer on the back side by using a transfer ribbon provided with a hot- melting ink and a thermal printer, and the image is fixed by bringing into contact with a heating body. CONSTITUTION:In the thermal printer provided at a printing part II, the card 1 is laminated on the transfer ribbon 5 so that the printing layer 4 comes into contact with a transfer ink layer 7, tien the laminate is heated correspondingly to an electric signal while exerting a pressure by a pressing roller 11, whereby the hot-melting ink is softened and is transferred onto the card to produce the image. The ink thus transferred is brought into contact with the heating body 12 at a fixing part III, and is easily absorbed into the inside part of the printing layer 4 by permeation. Accordingly, since a contact heating system excellent in thermal efficiency and a transfer ink having a low softening point are used, the amount of electric power consumed in a heating source is small. In addition, since flash lamps are not used, maintenance problems such as replacement of lamps are eliminated. |
