[Also in Division F4] Frozen food is moulded to unit portions in a mould one part of which is formed of ice. The term ice includes frozen aqueous suspensions or solutions, dry ice or snow. The mould is in two parts and in one form the upper part 21 is a flat metal or a plastics plate the lower part 22 having filling and vent apertures 27, 28 in the ice. Shredded cellulose may be used to strengthen the ice or the ice may be formed on a framework of metal or plastics. The ice moulds are made in a master die of cast or other metal, or of a plastic. The master die may be in the form of an inflatable bag. After use, the ice mould may be melted down and the liquid filtered and sterilized before re-use. |
