1293597 Valves A MALPASSI 24 Nov 1969 [19 July 1969] 57373/69 Heading F2V [Also in Division B1 A device for smoothing out fluctuations produced by an upstream fuel pump in the pressure of petrol delivered to a carburetter comprises a housing with an inlet 4, 5, an inward-flow, replaceable filter cartridge 16, whose interior space 20 opens through a duct 22 into outlet chamber 8, and a valve 3 located in duct 22 to control the flow therethrough, valve 3 being adjustable firstly by set screw 10, normally covered by cap 11, and secondly by diaphragm 9 which defines one wall of chamber 8 and moves up and down continuously to even out the varying pump pressure. Screw 10 bears on the diaphragm through a spring 12, and the upstanding pin 30 of the valve (Fig. 2, not shown) engages the diaphragm directly. The housing is formed in three parts 1a, 1b, 2, and parts 1b, 2 are secured together by resilient U-shaped rod (14) (Fig. 3, not shown). The space 7 above diaphragm 9 is substantially closed and full of air. |
