The assembly has resilient plates secured to outer lateral surfaces. The panel and dummy panel have projecting pins which engage holes in the assembly. The appts. has a support for the panel and allow the panel to move horizontally. A device engages the panel to position it in the mask assembly removing position and for holding it in that position. A removing device removes the mask assembly from the panel by bending the resilient plates to release the plates from engagement with the pins. The dummy panel is then positioned on a support plate provided for the mask. The plate has four support members for the shadow mask assembly and a guide surface.
