In order to secure a vehicle door (1), especially of rail vehicles, in its closing position, a spring-loaded latch (6) actuated from the door lock via a tension rod (5) is assigned a closing hook (8) which is fastened to the door jamb and in which the latch (6) engages when the door is closed. Mounted rotatably on this closing hook (8) is a clamping claw (9) which engages with its nose (20) into the latch (6) and which via a pressure cylinder (11) presses the latch together with the door leaf into the closing position.
