PURPOSE:To improve the spectrum distribution and the service life characteristic, by making the cross-section at the electrode sealing section within the specific range against the lamp power while making the ratio between the inner end section distance of the light emission tube and the entire length withing the specific range thus reducing the heat transmission loss. CONSTITUTION:The electrode sealing section 2 is formed at both ends of the spherical section 1 then the electrode 3 and the lead wire 5 are connected to the inner metal foil conductor 4 to form the metal halide lamp having the inner volume less than 1c.c. Here the cross-section S at the electrode sealing section 2 is made within such range as 0.1XP<=S<=0.4XP+4 for the lamp power P while the ratio between the inner end section distance of the light emission tube M and the entire length L is limited in the range of 2.9X10<-1=M/L<=3.5X10<-1>. Consequently the heat transmission loss through the sealed section is reduced to suppress the excessive temperature rise, while the spectrum distribution is improved, the opaqueness of the silicon is prevented and the expiration of the oxidation of the metal foil conductor can be prevented. |
