PURPOSE:To perform a multi-color display with different luminous colors and persistence characteristics by laminating a long persistence phosphor layer and a short persistence phosphor layer with the luminous colors that are different from those of this long persistence phosphor layer on the inner surface of a panel and forming a phosphor screen. CONSTITUTION:An electron gun frame 14 is arranged in the neck tube 13 of a vacuum enclosure 11 and a long persistence phosphor layer 15 with luminous colors such as orange and the like and a short persistence phosphor layer 16 with the luminous colors such as blue, green, and the like are formed repeatedly on the inner surface of an opposed front panel 12 and then a metal backing layer 17 with aluminum or the like is formed. A multi-color display with different luminous colors and persistence characteristics is performed by applying an electron beam caused by an excitation pulse that is suitable for the persistence characteristics of these phosphors. As a result, blue or bluish green marks, characters, etc. can be displayed simultaneously with a radar picture using the PPI scanning and a visual accuracy can be improved sharply. |
