PURPOSE:To compensate the phase of a light emitting diode by applying a modulating signal to the light emitting diode through a compensating circuit which includes a voltage variable capacity element. CONSTITUTION:When a modulating signal vx is supplied to a terminal T1, a voltage applied to a varactor VC is the sum of a bias voltage vs developed by a variable resistance RV and the vx. The varactor VC constitutes a low-pass filter together with a capacitor C and a resistance R. Adjusting the bias voltage compensates the phase characteristics of a light emitting diode by variation in varactor capacity with the modulating signal.
