PURPOSE:To easily press fit a metal catalyst into a case, by previously pressing the metal catalyst of non-circular external shape with a split mold, forming the catalyst to a circular shape of prescribed diameter and then press fitting the catalyst with a retainer jig into the cylindrical case. CONSTITUTION:A split mold 6 is opened, and a metal catalyst 1 is inserted into the interior of the mold, then each divided mold 6a-6d is pressed to a certain amount simultaneously toward the center O, thus external shape of the metal catalyst 1 is formed to a diameter about 0.5mm. smaller than an internal diameter of a cylindrical case 7. Then under a same condition as in the above, the metal catalyst 1 is pressed from the above by a disc-shaped retainer 8 of diameter about 1mm. smaller than an internal diameter of the split mold 6, in this way, the metal catalyst 1 is press fitted into the cylindrical case 7. |
