PURPOSE:To maintain a superior air-tightness in the cylinder chamber by a method wherein the intake and exhaust column valves are rotatably arranged adjacent to the intake and exhaust ports, while these valves are covered by a pair of valve seats formed to have a semi-cylindrical specific structure. CONSTITUTION:In a rotary intake and exhaust type internal combustion engine, the intake and exhaust column valves 5, 6 are rotatably installed in their lateral direction in a communication passage between the intake pipe 3, the exhaust pipe 4 and the cylinder chamber 2, respectively, and these valves 5, 6 are rotated in synchroneous with a rotation of the crank shaft to perform an intake and exhaust operation. In this case, a pair of semi-cylindrical valve seats 9a, 9b are covered at the outer circumferential surface of each of the valves 5, 6 by the close contact spring 10 at their inner circumferential surfaces. Sealed projections 13...fitting to the sealing projections 14...of the bearing hole 11 are projected at the outer circumferential surface of each of the seats 9a, 9b to enable a prevention of compressive leakage from the expansion clearance (a) of the column valves. |
