PURPOSE:To prevent a strength drop of a reinforcing part due to air bubbles generated from a covered layer, by dehumidifying the covered layer of both ends after melt-stuck connection of an optical fiber strand, and forming the reinforcing part on the melt-stuck connecting part, and the covered layer of both end parts under heating conditions. CONSTITUTION:On the outside circumference of an optical fiber strand 1, a reinforcing layer is formed by use of silicon 2 and nylon 3. As for the strands 1, 1, the covering is removed, and they are melt-stuck by a connecting part 7. To one of the strands 1, a stainless steel wire 9 and a heat-contractible tube 10 are made to pass through together with an adhesive agent 11, before melt- sticking, and a covering 6 of both ends of the connecting part 7 is dehumidified for several minutes by use of a heater 13. Subsequently, the tube 10 is heated, the tube 10 contracts, and a reinforcing part is formed together with the adhesive agent 11. In this way, the tube 10, the stainless steel wire 9, the adhesive agent 11, the strand 1, and the coverings 2, 3 are firmly fixed, and also it is possible to prevent a strength drop of the reinforcing part due to air bubbles generated from the covered layer. |
