The fuel tank for a motorcycle consists of a main tank (7) fitted to the main frame and an emergency tank (9) fitted below the seat rails (18). The main tank and emergency tank are connected by flexible and expandable fuel and ventilator pipes (25). The main tank is connected at the front to the frame by a nut and bolt which fit through plates (22) on the tank and frame so that the tank can easily be lifted from the frame for service and inspection of the engine. The rear of the tank is fitted to the frame by a hinge so that disconnection of the fuel lines is unnecessary when raising the tank.
